Bartenders Meet Beekeepers: New York City

Welcome to the premier episode of Bartenders Meet Beekeepers! This series celebrates the importance of bees in agriculture and brings that message behind the bar in cities across the country. We’re especially pleased to have partnered with award-winning Barr Hill Gin to bring these stories to life! Learn more about them and their love for the bees and all things botanical here: https://caledoniaspirits.com/

The first episode take us to New York City, where local beekeeper, Nick Hoefly of Astor Apiaries, invites our host, Jabin Troth of Licensed to Distill and some of NYC’s finest bartenders to his rooftop apiary. Here, he shares the unique attributes of being a beekeeper in an urban setting and tells us why raising awareness for the bees has a major influence on just about everything. After their time with the bees, each bartender shares their own recipe using Barr Hill Gin at popular Midtown bar, Valerie. The episode then follows Barr Hill to its booth at Bar Convent Brooklyn, where Hoefly showcases 40,000 bees in on-site beehives, and Barr Hill announces the planting of 73,000 square feet of new pollinator habitat to offset the square footage of the event.
